I highly recommend this book to read, as it an excellent book all around. It really affected me in such a way that I couldn’t stop thinking about how we treat our own children differently and why that is so. In fact, it was so intense I had to put the book down a few times. The main character is written with such compassion that you just want to give her a hug. This leads to alot of guilt and remorse and second-guessing. The story follows a women who has two children, but shares a different bond with each child. The characters are superbly written, and the author takes her time crafting a wonderful story of maternal ties and how our mothers determine what type of mothers we will become, whether we know it or not. At other times it was gutwrenchingly sad, at other times is was downright terrifying. Instead it is a deep and unnerving look at motherhood and all it’s ups and downs. It is certainly psychologically thrilling, but not in the classic way other pshychological thrillers are. The Push is described as a psychological thriller which is why I chose this book. I bought it a few weeks ago, but because I don’t like to read more than one book at a time, I had to wait until I was finished my previous book before I started this one. I just read a great new book that has me so excited I just have to write about it.
